Sometimes writing this weekly horoscope feels like I’m doing the opening monologue on a late night talk show, except I’m talking about what the planets will be doing in the week ahead instead of pop culture or politics. Venus enters Leo? Make a joke about Leos. Mercury square Neptune? Make a joke about being drunk. And so on.
This week, though, feels like one of those times when something tragic happened in the news shortly before filming, and I’m the guy who has to address it to the audience looking for a release from the day’s tensions.
I regret to inform you all that this is the week when Mars turns retrograde in Aries — on Wednesday to be specific. Normally this would not be an inherently bad thing. If you are old enough to be reading this, you’ve already lived through plenty of Mars retrogrades, and some of those would have been in Aries. No big deal right?
But: many of you know where I have to go with this next. Mars square Pluto and Mars square Saturn are both still very much in effect. You may have noticed that in the last two or three weeks, an already angry and confused world has gotten even more angry and more confused. None of that is going to magically get better on its own in the next few weeks. Indeed, Mars will, thanks to this retrograde, square both Pluto and/or Saturn until the end of the year.
So, at this time, if you are not in a relationship, hear me, Dear Friend:
Love comes in many forms and we all need it in one way or another. Reach out to your friends and family, and let them know that you need them just as much as they need you. If you find yourself feeling completely alone in the world, know that there are always places where you can reach out, where someone who cares can and will reach back.
If you are in a relationship and are having trouble in these troubling times, listen:
Kindness and patience are absolutely vital in a relationship. Express it in the way that you would have it expressed to you, and don’t be afraid to ask for more of the same from your partner.
Finally, if you are one of those rare and blessed people who find themselves at the beginning or in the early stages of a relationship with someone you can (or could) really love? This, for you, Dear One:
Never forget that sometimes the most beautiful things can grow from the ashes.
