The week begins with a Lunar Eclipse in Gemini. Eclipses are tricky creatures. They rarely make a big splash the day they actually happen, but they can sit there and lurk in the background, waiting to get activated by some other transit later on. But if you have any placements making any close major aspects to 8 degrees Gemini, you might feel the universe is setting you up for some major action. And you may be right.
As I often like to point out here, when it comes to love and romance the ways we usually think of them, it boils down to two planets… Venus and Mars. Mars doesn’t complete any major aspects this week, but we need to have a look at what shape it’s in.
Mars represents the more urgent and sexual side of love and relationships. It’s already pretty amped up, having been in Aries for so long now. But on top of that, Mars is now approaching its final squares to Pluto and Jupiter. This is going to amplify the urge to merge, but not in an easy or comfortable manner. When it comes to real or potential romantic partners, expect more agitation and less subtlety. And in existing relationships, watch your temper… and everyone’s temper, while we’re at it.
As for the softer and gentler side of romance, that’s when we look to Venus. Venus opposite Uranus is still active for the first part of the week. That will make for some interesting and unusual attractions. Continuing on that theme: ever go through one of those times when things have gotten weird, but not bad overall… but still kind of weird and hard to explain to an outside observer? That’s the kind of week Venus has ahead.
The good news here is that on Saturday, Venus trine Neptune is exact. In a trying time, when the world seems to be going off the rails more and more (looking at you again, Mars in Aries), a little sweetness and light is called for. Any aspect between Venus and Neptune can make for results varying from “beautifully romantic” to “not a great idea but fun anyway.” If you are in a relationship, this is a good time to make things better. If you aren’t in a relationship, it’s a good time to get things started. And in any case, this could be a good week to answer Rodney King’s famous question, “Why can’t we all just get along?” with a literal or figurative, “Would you like a hug?”
Just keep in mind that hugging can in some cases lead to sexual activity. With the state of 2020 as it is, could we all benefit from that sort of connection with someone? Probably. With Venus quincunx Mars exact on Sunday, is that necessarily a good idea? This quincunx, which normally doesn’t shout its presence, can make things a little weird whenever it happens between any two planets. Between Venus and Mars, that can have a distinctly sexual outcome. For bonus points, Venus is in Scorpio. The traditional ruler of Scorpio is Mars, and the modern ruler is Pluto. And with Mars square Pluto in effect when Venus is added to the mix? For God’s sake, people, use protection. And whatever strangeness you may get up to this weekend, I promise I won’t tell…
